Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara is not only a very nice vantage point, it also doubles a small park. It is one of the largest viewpoints of the city and that is just as well, because it is always busy with tourists.
In the park of the miradouro there’s s a map made of azulejos (Portuguese tiles) that indicate which (famous) buildings you can see from this miradouro.
In the park you will also find images of gods from Greek mythology such as Minerva and Ulysses.
Eating and drinking in the park
You can bring your own food and drinks of course but at Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara there is a bar slash cafeteria where you can get snacks and drinks.
Enjoy with a good Vinho do Porto
Want to enjoy the beautiful view with a glass of good port wine in your hand, then cross the road to Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto. Here you have more than 300 types of excellent port wine you can taste.
This miradouro is seen as the gateway to the Bairro Alto.
