The surroundings of Miradouro das Portas do Sol are perfect for taking beautiful photos. There is a beautiful view of Igreja de São Vicente de Fora up to the Tagus.
The view over the winding streets, stairs and narrow alleys of Alfama Alfama are breathtaking, with the Tagus river in the background. You can easily get here with the Elétrico 28, the tram that continues its route along other viewpoints.
Quiosque with a view
Along the street side is a quiosque (kiosk) where you can get drinks and small snacks. Around the quiosque is a terrace where you can enjoy the beautiful view around you.
There is little space, so if you find an empty table, take your chance to have a drink here.
On the balcony of Miradouro das Portas do Sol there are benches, bringing your own food and drinks make a good alternative for buying something.
Hidden tunnel
An attraction that is often overlooked by tourists is the tunnel under Miradouro das Portas do Sol. It is undoubtedly the best kept secret of this miradouro. In the tunnel the history of Lisbon is explained in a cartoonish style.
It’s not difficult to find, you just have to know where to look. Next to the quiosque is a staircase down to Rua Norberto de Araujo. On the left you will find the tunnel.
