If you’re on a family city trip to Lisbon and looking for an educational and enjoyable experience for your children aged 6 to 15, a visit to Pavilhão do Conhecimento is a must.

Science in a playful way
Located in the heart of Parque das Nações is a playful science museum that educates and entertains both young and old. This museum is cleverly designed to ignite curiosity and encourage children to embark on a discovery journey through the fascinating world of science. After spending a whole afternoon there with our 4- and 8-year-old daughter, we can confidently say that it does exactly that!

Upon entering the museum, you are immediately greeted by engaging experiments that set the tone for your entire visit. Whether it’s the impressive table, the interactive robot, or the fascinating optical illusions that you definitely want to capture on camera, there’s something fun to discover right away.

Children as scientists
One of the highlights of the museum is the opportunity for children to experiment and learn about various scientific concepts themselves. The interactive exhibits challenge them to think, ask questions, and get hands-on with engaging experiments. From physics to biology, Pavilhão do Conhecimento offers a wide range of activities that stimulate the curiosity of young minds.

Whether exploring the principles of gravity, understanding electricity, or unraveling the mysteries of nature, there’s something for everyone. It’s a delight to go through all the experiments.

Welcome to the science circus!
A definite highlight for us was the “Circus of Science Experience” a space where the excitement of an amusement park merges with the magic of a circus! There are numerous activities here perfect for children aged 3 to 12. Imagine becoming the strongest bodybuilder, experiencing what it’s like to be a delightful treat on a fruit basket, dancing on a playful floor and wall, building a never-ending house, or even lying on a bed of nails – the circus offers a plethora of engaging activities. The beloved “Unfinished House” is back, but this time with an entirely new setting. We promise you, it will be an experience you won’t soon forget.

Cycling at great heights on a steel wire
An absolute highlight was the cycling experience, where you ride at a height of 5 meters on a steel wire. Unfortunately, this bike is not accessible for 4-year-old children because they are too small. We have promised our daughter to return quickly once her legs reach a length of 65 cm. And yes, she regularly measures her legs in anticipation of this adventure!

Practical information
Pavilhão do Conhecimento is easily accessible and offers an engaging experience for families. If you come with your family, it’s advisable to purchase the ticket in the museum, as they only offer a family ticket at the counter. A family ticket costs 30 euros for 2 adults and children (up to 17 years old). Single tickets for adults cost 14 euros, and for children aged 3-11, it’s 8 euros, while those aged 12-17 pay 9 euros. The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday and offers various interactive workshops and activities throughout the day.

In conclusion, if you want to add an unforgettable and educational experience to your stay in Lisbon, a visit to Pavilhão do Conhecimento is highly recommended. It’s a perfect destination to stimulate children’s scientific curiosity while having a fun and interactive time in Lisbon.
