When we first visited Zoomarine years ago, our daughters were still little – just 1 and 4 years old. We already had fun with the gentle rides and cheerful sea lion shows. But returning now – with two energetic girls aged 6 and 9 – the park truly came to life.
Zoomarine is a dolphin park, water park and theme park all rolled into one. You don’t have to choose between a show or a waterslide – it’s all here. And that makes it an ideal destination for families looking for a full, joyful day out.
Our day started with… an inner tube
We had a plan: dolphin show first, then a relaxing lunch, and only after that the water park. Well – that plan lasted exactly 12 minutes. We were already knee-deep in the Rio Coco, floating under palm trees. And honestly, that’s exactly how it should be. At Zoomarine, it’s best to let the day unfold on its own.

Highlights of our day (and day two!)
- Dolphin encounter: from age 4, children can join a paid experience where they get to touch a dolphin, ask questions, and take a photo. A magical moment!
- Swimming with dolphins: available from age 8. Our eldest already wants to go back.
- The dolphin show: beautifully staged with a lot of respect for the animals. Many are rescued and, if possible, released back into the sea.
- Sea lions & parrots: fun, well-timed shows that really surprise you – both entertaining and educational.
- Water park: slides, wave pool, play zones – all clean, safe, and well-organized.
- Mini theme park: carousels, Ferris wheel and gentle rides for primary school-aged kids.

Practical tips – what you’ll want to know
- Arrive early: more chance to rent a lounger or parasol (paid), or to find a good shady spot.
- Free parking: large and convenient parking lot right at the entrance.
- Water shoes or flip-flops: essential for walking around with wet feet.
- Waterproof phone case: perfect for stress-free photos, even in the water.
- Bring your own food: picnicking is allowed and makes the day more relaxed (and budget-friendly).
- Two days? A day ticket costs around €20; a two-day pass is about €30. We did it – and it was worth every euro.
- Zoomarine is located in the Algarve, just over two hours’ drive from Lisbon.
Zoomarine is not just fun – it’s educational and mindful too.
Many of the animals are rescued or rehabilitated, and when possible, returned to the wild. It gives the whole experience more depth – especially meaningful for kids.
We came home tired, wet and happy. And the girls? They’re still talking about it.
