O Cantinho da Belinha in Cascais radiates warmth and hospitality. A few years ago, we chose this restaurant, touched by the name that matches the nickname of our daughter: Belinha. Since then, it has become a regular stop every time we visit Cascais – a place where you can enjoy pure, honest, and above all delicious food.
A Tribute to Portuguese Cuisine
In a time when culinary trends change at lightning speed, O Cantinho da Belinha remains true to the essentials: fresh ingredients, traditional preparation methods, and generous portions without fuss. Fish lovers are in for a treat here. Think perfectly grilled dorado, classic bacalhau, and, of course, sardines straight from the grill. And during sardine season? You simply must come here for the best sardinhas assadas in Cascais. Meat lovers are also well catered for at O Cantinho da Belinha. The juicy picanha is prepared with love: honest meat, perfectly grilled, and served with traditional sides like rice, fries, and salad.
Dining with a Smile
The secret behind the success of O Cantinho da Belinha? Besides the amazing food, it is without a doubt the team. Here you won’t find distant service, but friendly, entertaining hospitality with a touch of humor. The atmosphere breathes Portuguese nostalgia with a classic interior, while in the summer, the esplanade is the ultimate spot to enjoy a plate of freshly grilled sardines under the warm sun.
From Savory Dishes to Sweet Endings
After a table full of fish, meat, and sides, there’s always room left for dessert. Our go-to choice? The mousse de chocolate – light, rich in flavor, and so good you’ll almost automatically order a second serving. The classic leite creme is also highly recommended for those craving something creamy and traditional.
Tip: Make a Reservation (and Share Your Plate!)
O Cantinho da Belinha is popular among locals and visitors familiar with Cascais, so without a reservation, chances are you’ll have to wait at the door. Which, honestly, is more than worth it.
Also good to know: the portions are generous. So generous, in fact, that they are easily shareable. Our picanha was so large that the four of us easily shared it. Since most of us at the table preferred fish, one brave soul had to rise to the challenge and keep eating – a task carried out with much pleasure (and laughter).

The value for money is excellent: for three people – sharing a generous picanha, a perfectly prepared bacalhau, water, two soft drinks, a glass of wine, and coffee – we paid only €35. Affordable top-quality dining: a meal that proves honest food doesn’t have to be expensive.
For us, O Cantinho da Belinha has become a place that feels like coming home. Anyone looking for pure, generous, and flavorful food in a warm, welcoming atmosphere will feel just as at home here as we do.
A typical Portuguese gem where you truly experience the essence of good food – and where you always leave with a smile.
