Perhaps one of the most beautiful views from a terrace is at Restaurante Zambeze. If you have visited Castelo de São Jorge this is a nice place to have a drink.
The café-restaurant is located on the roof of a building that was once a market and now serves as a parking garage next to a Pingo Doce supermarket. This is definitely one of the best views over Lisbon and the Tagus River.
Combination of two worlds
Restaurante Zambeze combines Portuguese and Mozambican cuisine. The menu has traditional Portuguese dishes with some African influences. The dishes are served on the terrace or inside the restaurant. The restaurant is decorated with African influences, nice detail is that the tableware comes from the prestigious brands Vista Alegre and Bordalo Pinheiro komt.
Accessibility
The Alfama district is a wonderful place to walk around and discover. If you’ve enough of walking, take the
Elevador do Castelo upstairs to get to Zambeze.
If you don’t feel like having something to eat at the restaurant, you can also just have a look around the miradouro. This is a separate part of the terrace so you don’t disturb the visitors of Zambeze and you can enjoy the beautiful views.
