The pastelaria has been in business since 1945 and has been in the hands of the same family for three generations.
Ideal for breakfast and lunch
The pastelaria looks a bit less posh than the famous pastelarias within walking distance, such as Café A Brasileira, Café Nicola and Pastelaria Alcôa, but they bake delicious pastries here.
If you’re staying in a hotel or an apartment near Pastelaria Orion then it is an exceptional choice for breakfast. They have good coffee, fresh orange juice and excellent croissants and brioches. But you can also choose an ordinary sandwich. Breakfast for 2 will set you back less than 10 euros (£8,50).
The pasteis de nata here is also very good, not too sweet or too creamy. Actually pretty much the way we like it. We licked clean the dish that the salame de chocolate was served on, it was that delicious!
Pastelaria Orion is near Miradouro de Santa Caterina, so be sure to get something nice at Orion and enjoy it at the vantage point for double pleasure!
