On the edge of the charming Praça das Flores you will find the lovely Pão de Canela café. Most of the café’s seats are outside on the terrace and it’s especially busy at weekends.
If you want to have brunch here at the weekend, it is advisable to make a reservation.
Lazing around
Pão de Canela is an ideal place to relax with a drink, coffee or tea, and a quick meal or a nice piece of cake.
Right in front of the café is a playground with an enclosed fence. This is ideal if you’re travelling with children: from the terrace you have a good view of the playground, so you can enjoy your drink in peace.
The speed of the service fits in perfectly with the atmosphere of the square: it’s slow but friendly. And the food is very tasty and certainly worth the wait.
On Sunday morning there is a brunch buffet (10-17 hours), it is advisable to make a reservation. Oftentimes the place will be full.
Pastel de Nata
Pão de Canela’s pastel de nata tastes slightly sweet and as crispy as it appears. The cream is on the thick side so this pastel de nata is a bit heavy on the stomach. It’s fine, but not earth-shattering.
