In less than 30 minutes from Lisbon you can be at the beach at Costa de Caparica. To get to this beach you will cross Ponte 25 Abril Costa da Caparica is located on the other side of the Tagus river, straight on the Atlantic coast.
Locals and tourists
Costa de Caparica is a popular seaside resort with the inhabitants of Lisbon. There are many restaurants, hotels and entertainment venues here. In summer the place is bustling with both locals and tourists. Later in the season there is a good chance that many restaurants are closed.
Costa da Caparica is known as one of the most popular beaches near Lisbon. It’s a vast and wide beach, each part has a different name. Due to the dams that were constructed, a distinction is made between the different beaches.
Different beaches together
The best beaches here are Praia da Morena and Praia da Sereia. These two beaches are hugging the dunes and you will find a couple of good bars. The beaches are still more than 5 km away from the centre. If you’re traveling by car, it’s not a problem to drive 10 minutes further. If you came by bus then Praia do Tarquínio-Paraíso is the nearest beach, from the centre of Costa da Caparica you can walk straight onto this beach.
Praia da Cabana do Pescador is the most popular beach of Costa de Caparica. Here you can find various beach bars. You’ll hear live music coming from somewhere on a regular basis and there are plenty of opportunities to get a massage on the beach. Even though it’s very popular, it doesn’t feel crowded. That is because the beach is quite large. The sea here is really inviting you to take a splash!
Pão com chouriço
If you stay near the centre and you get hungry from all that sunbathing, walk into the city centre for a bit. Less than 10 minutes from the beach Tarquínio-Paraíso you’ll find the best pão com chouriço of the area! Go to Restaurant A Merendeira, at Rua dos Pescadores 20.

How to get to Costa da Caparica
Costa da Caparica is easily reached by bus. From Praça de Espanha the bus goes to Caparica centre. From here it’s a 5 minute walk to the beach.
